Welcome to the Iowa Writer's Workshop poetry pop-up site! We hope that Bread & Assembly can be understood as another way of thinking and acting through our current circumstance, in real-time, together: of trying out ways of articulating this moment and its legacy, and our responsibilities within it, and using poetry as an instrument to do so.
Every two weeks we will have an open call for submissions of art/poetry in all its possible mediums. Each call will be for submissions that relate to, address, or make conversation with a particular theme. Accepted works will hopefully create an artistic discussion about the current theme as an "assembly" of various works of art.
All updates and published pieces will appear on the home page. By browsing through the rest of the site, you can learn more about the project and its namesake, a compilation of all works published under the current theme, and submission guidelines.
We have many different visions for what this site may be able to offer our community in this time, and we hope that through engagement and sharing all of those visions will be fulfilled.
